GenomeJocky

-September 25th 2015

’Twas idyllic, with the smiley gloves
Did extract and genotype in the lab:
All flimsy were the quagurus,
And the genome rats outshone.

“Beware the genomejock, my son!
The code they write, the SNPs they match!
Beware the match inferred, and shun
The frumious mismatch!”

He took the portal’s words as penned;
Long time the genome foe he sought—
So rested he by the gumsum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The genomejock, with wide acclaim,
Came whiffling through the genomeshack,
And burbled as it came!

A, C!T, G! A, C!T, G! And through and through
The mortal was given a Boomerack!
He tearfully wept, and looked so dead
While genomejock went triumphing back.

“And then in vain the quaguru spoke?
Come to my arms, with a squeamish look!
O drabjous day! Oh Dear! Chorey !”
He sadly throttled his joy.

’Twas idyllic, with the smiley gloves
Did extract and genotype in the lab:
All flimsy were the quagurus,
And the genome rats outshone again

A parody of Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll, but with a double twist 🙂 written for my daughter Akhila on her birthday. One day she may not understand it.
The quaguru and the boy standing by the gumsum tree try to kill the genomejock in vain.
quagurus – portmanteau word- Quack Gurus
gumsum – hindi word meaning sad or without emotion
chorey- boy in hindi
